Sand Through My Toes

My big adventure in the sand

Teaching, Birds and Mock Safety Zones!

Oh my goodness, instead of a convoy to our other location to get ready for our English lesson, why not hitch a ride in a Black Hawk!  Holy head!  It was an amazing experience and an unforgettable one for sure!  Safety brief, seatbelt (harness really) safety and yes, how to actually secure yourself in tightly with the 4 point harness, I believe something like a race car driver!  The adrenaline that goes through you as you approach “the bird”, bend down slightly going in at a 90′ angle as to not get your head chopped off from the rotating propellers, hitch yourself up to your seat — yes, positioned myself in the middle since the two guys in my group took the “window’ seats – and buckle up!  The doors were left open and I felt like a kid in a candy store!  The blades start spinning faster and wahlah, we are lifting up into the air. Richard and Tom both give me a fist pump as they can tell I am so darn excited about our “air” movement to our location I can’t contain the smile!  Although it was only a 4 minute flight, one that I will not forget!  Yes, pic to come soon…

Drop off at the landing area and off to the convoy to school!  Meet my students in our mock setting and begin teaching “get in, get out, get on, get off, get (to)….  oh my, funny funny funny as they want to know why we say “get on the plane but get in the car”….  oh my, and the craziness of the English language takes over in a mock run!

Yep, had an intruder but b/c we were well trained by a Sgt. Trainer (he is wonderful, patient, and knowledgeable), we were in our “safe zone”, dressed properly, and no drawn weapons!  Always a plus…..

Back in the BOQ and although it wasnt too bad in the FEMA trailers, glad to shower and sleep alone for a few days!!  🙂

I can’t imagine being part of a black hawk sandwich! All I know is your tolerance for noises at night must be at an all time high since you now have to share space. Miss you girl.
